Job role as the director

A music video director is a person who directs the making or production of a music video. The director does a lot more than just order the singer and other crew members around though. For example the director must visualize what the video is going to look like on screen, and for their idea to come to life, actors, editors and all other crew members must work with the director to fulfill this.


Although the director has most the control over what happens within the music video, the producer which in my group’s case is Kieran Lewis can approve or disapprove their ideas as they have more power. Another group member that I will be working close with is the editor, Matthew Flynn. As editor some of my ideas are impossible to capture or create the right effect that is needed, however it can be produced through editing using special effects.
