interview on the final video 2

Interview 2 - Stephen Roe

1. What did you understand from the video?
I understood that the man was depressed because of a girl, the shots of the ring and th picture of the boy and the girl. All the drinking and the grubby clothes and the gun helped to convey this to.

2. Did you feel the concept of alcoholism was portrayed well?

Yes. All the different, half empty bottles of alcohol portrayed this and the way he was drinking too. The handheld blurry shots also enforced this and made it look convincing.

3. Did you understand the link between the lyrics and the mise-en-scene/props?
The visuals elated to the lyrics well as he was singing about being lost and not being able to feel himself. This was shown well by all the drinking and the depressive nature of the narrative. The out of focus shots really helped the feeling of being lost too.

4. Was there any shots that stood out and grabbed your attention?
I really liked the out of focus shots. These were really effective and helped to make the narrative more understandable and realistic. The point of view shots of the man drinking worked really nicely as well and helped portray the concept of alcoholism.

5. What could have improved the video?
I think the video looks really good and is very effective. The only thing that I would say could be improved is some of the lip syncing. Apart from that it is a really good music video.
